You're unable to connect your SMART Board interactive whiteboard to your computer wirelessly

After you install the Wireless Bluetooth Connection, the Ready light on the interactive whiteboard remains red and the SMART control panel displays a No SMART Boards are connected message. The interactive whiteboard doesn't respond to your touch, and you're unable to write or draw with digital ink.

Symptoms
Cause

The firmware in the interactive whiteboard's controller module doesn't support the Wireless Bluetooth Connection hardware.

Solution

Update your computer to the latest SMART software, and then update your controller module to the appropriate SMART product firmware.

Important: To wirelessly connect your SMART Board interactive whiteboard and your computer, you must have one of the following combinations.

If your SMART product

SMART Board 600 series interactive whiteboard SC9 WC6 or WC6D
SMART Board 600 or D600 series interactive whiteboard SC12 WC6D

If you don't have one of these combinations, contact your authorized SMART reseller.

You can update your software from the SMART website or you can use SMART Product Update.

To update your SMART software

  1. Disconnect the wireless Bluetooth adapter from the interactive whiteboard's controller module.
  2. Connect your interactive whiteboard and your computer using the USB cable included with your SMART Board interactive whiteboard, and ensure the pen tray pens and the eraser are in the pen tray.
  3. On a Windows computer, open any SMART software, for example SMART Notebook, and then click Help > Check for Updates.
    OR
    On a Mac computer, select Finder > Applications > Check for Updates.
    The SMART Product Update dialog box appears.
  4. Click Update to update all your SMART software.

To update your firmware

  1. Run the SMARTFirmwareUpdater application from the following location:
    Windows 64-bit operating systems: C:\Program Files (x86)\SMART Technologies\SMART Product Drivers
    Windows 32-bit operating systems: C:\Program Files\SMART Technologies\SMART Product Drivers
    Mac computers: Application\SMART Product Drivers\Additional Tools
    The SMART Firmware Upgrade Wizard appears.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
  3. Remove the USB cable that connects your interactive whiteboard and computer.

You can now connect your interactive whiteboard and computer using the wireless Bluetooth connection.
