Firmware update doesn't complete on your SMART Board M600 series interactive whiteboard

Issue
A firmware update is interrupted and doesn't complete correctly.
Symptoms
A message appears during a firmware update, stating "Firmware update failed."
Cause
The USB cable connecting your interactive whiteboard to your computer disconnects during the firmware update process.
Solution
To complete the firmware update
  1. When the failure message appears, click Next and then Finish.
  2. Disconnect the power cable from the interactive whiteboard's pen tray, and then connect it again.
  3. Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both the computer and the pen tray.
  4. Run the firmware update again and follow the on-screen instructions.

Notes

  • On Windows computers, the firmware update is usually located at C:\Program Files\SMART Technologies\Education Software\SMARTFirnwareUpdater.exe.
  • On Mac computers, the firmware update is usually located at Apps > SMART Technologies > SMART Tools > FirmwareUpdater.app.
  • The Select button's status light is amber during this process.
The firmware update completes correctly.
